The intertidal zone is where sea meets land between low and high tide. I research, create, and document in this dynamic space via transient installations composed of found organic and human-made materials that time and tide soon reclaim.

My studio, so to speak, is primarily a pocket beach on Fidalgo Island, where a mixed semi-diurnal tidal cycle exposes a vast mudflat during low tide, but can also pummel the bank during high. As the tides recede, they leave an assortment of debris that provides a glimpse into the condition of regional wildlife, the greater ecosystem, and the sea.

May these intertidal exercises invite you down to earth, remembering as Donna Haraway wrote, I am a creature of the mud, not the sky.
